5th year Chemistry students explored surface adsorption theory using models — showing how ethene and hydrogen adsorb onto a nickel surface, react, and desorb as ethane.
The updated 5th year course places a strong focus on modelling. This activity allowed students to visualise bonds breaking and new ones forming at a molecular level.
