Literacy Week at St. Peter’s

Literacy Week was a week-long celebration of reading, writing, and the joy of language. Students and staff took part in a wide variety of activities that highlighted the importance of literacy in both learning and community life.

Our school-wide Spelling Bee was the major highlight.

Congratulations to this year’s winners:

  • First Year: Safia Ibragimov

  • Second Year: Saoirse Taffe

  • Third Year: Aaron Gernon

  • Fourth Year: Lea Vuko

  • Fifth Year (Joint Winners): Olivia Roche and Éadaoin Farrell

  • Sixth Year: Will Gernon

The week also featured a Paired Reading session between First and Fourth Year students, giving them an opportunity to read together and discuss the books they enjoy most.

Staff joined in too, with lunchtime challenges including a Word Wheel and Crossword competition. Well done to Ms. Walsh, who claimed victory in both.

The programme concluded with Pages and Parties, a final gathering where students shared their favourite reads and recommendations together over breakfast.

We would like to thank the St. Peter’s Literacy Team — Ms. Casey, Ms. Clarke, Ms. Coleman, Ms. Kane, Ms. Murphy, Mr. Ryan, and Ms. Quane — for organising such a successful and engaging series of events.

Our appreciation also goes to Fourth Year students Thomas Coughlan and Millie Griffen Lynch for their valuable support throughout the week.
